Trend: Suits and Tailored Looks

Mar 25, 2008 Author: Nastassia | Filed under: Spring, Summer, Trends

This trend is definately a throwback to preppy couture. I’m not saying you need to wear a three-piece suit with a monacle, but there are ways to incorporate nice tailored pieces into your everyday look.

Tailored being the key word here: It needs to fit your body like it was made for you specifically.

This Rebecca Taylor Dress from shopbop.com is a great example. The stiching at the skit accentuates a smaller waist (even if you don’t have one). I also love the way it IS a dress, but it looks like two separate pieces.

I have always loved the look of a blazer on men and women. This velvet blazer from Alice and Olivia is absolutely gorgeous. I love the tailoring of it, and you can wear it with a pair of skinny jeans and heels, or flats…over a dress…etc. I know it is getter hotter, so it might be harder to pull off. But it could make a great nightime look or for a meeting in an air-conditioned office lol.

Ths Chulo Pony vest…is absolutely adorable. You can wear it to the office or even be daring and wear it for a night out.

Then we have a BCBG little coverlet. I think that you can dress this up and down and make it as conservative or sexy as you want.

Last but not least we can’t forget about shoes! I would most likely go for the more demure Michael Kors, but if you are feeling ultra fierce and uber trendy, go for the Lineas.

Spring Splurges and Steals

Mar 21, 2008 Author: Nastassia | Filed under: High Heels, Spring

The time is spring…finally time to put away your knee high boots and uggs (yes I still wear mine :X). My biggest problem is that I have expensive taste. I see a pair of Louboutins or Zanottis, my heart stops and I can’t think for a good minute. I caress the shoe lovingly and then turn it over. Seeing that the price equals 1 week’s paycheck I put them down and continue to walk towards the *gasp* cheaper section.

Mind you cheaper for me doesn’t mean Chinese Laundry anymore. It means I have to stay away from the “premier designers” and go towards the Marc Jacobs and the Stuart Weitzmans. For the purpose of this blog I’ve taken some of my favorite shoes and paired them with the affordable versions.

Fun Wedges! You can find the Steve Madden version here and the Bettye Muller version here

Peep Toe Pumps! Find the Louboutin version here and the Macys version here

These I am really excited about…Peep Toe Mary Janes!! Find the Blahnik version here and the Steve Madden version here

Last but not least, you can’t have spring without a great Flat. Find the Paul Mayer version here and the Calvin Klein version here

Marciano Love

Paul Marciano you have done it again. I found this gorgeous to die for shoe in the pages of Elle Mag in an ad.

I fell in love. You can find it here: Iris Shoe

Normally I don’t go for purple, but it is the perfect spring color. With bright shoes like that you can pair them with neutrals like blacks and jeans. They would go great with a pair of peg leg jeans like these by Hudson:

This site has some great clothes at some really good deals.

This red cap sleeve dress isabsolutely adorable. I think it would look good on anybody because it has a classic sillouhette and fits in all the right areas.

I love this scarf! You can wear it a number of ways and look effortlessly chic. Plus it reminds me of pucci but without the cost lol.

These clutches are adorable! They have great bright spring colors and they’re only $30! They can provide that perfect splash of color to any outfit.

Lastly they have this cute green blouse that I can’t wait to snatch up. It would look great with a pair of jeans and flats, or dress it up with a black skirt and heels to match.

CIFF Trend Show

Feb 20, 2008 Author: Nastassia | Filed under: Fashion Shows, Spring, Trends

I’ve embedded a clip of the CIFF (Copenhagen International Fashion Fair) trend show for spring/summer 2008 titled “easy delight.” Shows fresh, fun colors, and floral prints.

I LOVE that dress at the end. Definately a mix of hippie/romantic. Depending where you live (if it’s hot), sheer layers can come in very handy. They have the ability to hide flaws and make you look very soft and feminine.

Yellow is IN

Feb 20, 2008 Author: Nastassia | Filed under: Spring, Trends

Spring 2008 trend…Yellow. Spring designers bring a crop of lemony hues that bring mind summer and lots of sunshine.

Check out this 1960s mod dress by marc jacobs:

Marc Yellow

Can be dressed down with a pair of classic ballet flats, or dressed up with some fierce pumps.

Adorable Anne Klein T strap sandals:

AK Yellow

I love the look of the T strap in heels, and I love it even more in these sandals. I’ll definately be sporting these come next month.

Lastly I have these little gems…I mean I already worship Louboutin but then he has to come out with these fabulous heels:

yellow heels

They would not only make your legs look wicked, but they would go with anything. I’m not saying to go out and wear all yellow at once, but that splash of color goes great with a pair of dark skinny jeans or a little black dress. It makes things look more intriguing without using too many accessories.

example = Sheer Lace Blouse from Forever 21

Tribal and Tropical - Designers are coming out with bold, beautiful prints reminiscent of nature and animals.

example = Nicole Miller dress from Bluefly

Belts - Are still in! They draw attention to the waist and make everybody look cinched and fabulous.

example = D&G belt from Neiman Marcus

Retro Elegant - Look foxy this season in outfits inspired by the 70’s and 80’s. Bright neon, Big and bold patterns. Sparkles and minis are definately in. Same with gold and platforms. Don’t overdo it because you will end up looking tacky! Thank goodness my mom kept some of her clothes, now she can fit in!
