Posh Looks

Jun 22, 2008 Author: Nastassia | Filed under: Trends

posh spice.jpgLet’s face it, we all want to look, feel, and dress as good as the Celebs do. Take a look at Posh, living up to her name, on the streets of New York. Every hair in place, a crisp chic ruffled blouse, and belted skirt, polished off with a very trendy pair of shades. No wonder the paparazzi follow her all day. She looks hot! Well you can re-create her posh look for way less. If you start to notice strangers with cameras swarming, it just means you got the look right.

Costume Dept

Jun 2, 2008 Author: Nastassia | Filed under: Trends

You can always use a little extra leg room.

Pull on a pair of Costume Dept. leggings, and you’re guaranteed to get it. The new L.A.-based line’s first batch of fashionably loud stretch pants will uncramp your style.

They’re not for the faint of heart. Choose from impossible-to-ignore wild animal prints like Purple Panther and Ice Cheetah, the metallic foil-treated tribal geometrics of Kenya Chic, New Diamond’s bronze on bronze shimmer, or the futuristic mash-up of Hologram Forest. Even seemingly subtle styles turn out to be semisheer or have tone-on-tone patterns.

Much of the material (mainly polyester, Lycra, and nylon) is dead stock rescued from the depths of Downtown’s fashion district, limiting the run of each to around a dozen. New looks are introduced often, but once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

So don’t let them just walk on by.

Billion Dollar Babes

May 14, 2008 Author: Nastassia | Filed under: Just Me, Trends

You should know by now that I love a good deal, especially on shoes and clothes. Billion Dollar Babes is having a spring sale on May 30th! I just registered the site so I don’t know what else I have to do to get an invite. I did send them an e-mail though. When they get back to me I’ll update this post with more information.

I guess they do have different memberships for a one-time yearly fee which would be worth it if you did a lot of shopping. I’d personally love to go to see the new trends and get my hands on some new threads before anybody else does. muahhaha!

Trend Alert: Embellished Items

Apr 7, 2008 Author: Nastassia | Filed under: Trends

Found a new trend the other day: Embellishments on clothing. Now this may not seem like news to some of you, but it goes beyond what we’re used to. I’m seeing rhinestones, beads, big stones and rocks on everything from jeans (that can’t be comfy to sit on) to ballet flats. Here are some of my favs:

Velvet is In

Apr 2, 2008 Author: Nastassia | Filed under: Fall, Trends

Last week I had mentioned this gorgeous velvet blazer just because of my own preferences. Turns out, the look is still in.

This fall, velvet is the fabric of choice for chic ladies who can wear everything from sexy dresses to sleek, skinny pants. Now some of you may find velvet constricting, but this year it’s going through an overhaul.
Lighter and Looser — that’s the turn velvet is taking this fall. Talking about pieces that layer easily with other fabrics.
Example: Mimi Turner’s silk rayon velvet jacket, Laila Azhar’s silk top, Nolita’s polyester dress and cotton leggings from Simone by Katie Nehra. Wunderkind shoes.

Forever 21 Following Trends

Yes, I love my high end clothing. However, sometimes you need something quick and cheap to wear for a night out. This is where forever 21 comes in. Not only is it reasonably priced, they also follow all the trends. Pair a cute top with some expensive jeans and shoes and nobody will ever know the difference. shh!

Fashion Chateau

These are a few of my favorite things…

I have loved fashionchateau ever since I ran their campaign at myspace. They combine high end clothing and accessories with the carefree feel of So-Cal. I went through their site pretending that I have money (lol) and found a few great items:

This gorgeous purple mini dress by Sky is to die for. You can wear it so many ways its unbelievable.  Wear it as is for a night out, wear it over jeans as a super long top…with leggings for some Sunday tea, I could go on!

Sky Orchid Rene

I love this clutch. It might be hard to pull off depending what outfit you are wearing, but if you are wearing all black it would be a great key piece to throw in.

GoldenBleu Water Charley Patent

I LOVE C&C california. You can usually find their stuff at Bloomies. They make cute ass tank tops and tees made out of comfy pure cotton. I mean you would wear them to dinner and then wear it as your pjs.

C & C California Cherub Ribbed Bold Tank

A sweater dress can be used for so many things. Put a blazer over it to wear to work…hike up the hemline and wear it to a hot date.

Generra Silver Shimmer Sweater Dress

Lastly, I love these jeans by true religion. They aren’t for everybody though! Their buttoned pockets can add unwanted attention to your derriere and might even make it look better. And for me, I do have a problem with their inseams…then again I am 5′9 so I’m in the minority.

Trend: Suits and Tailored Looks

Mar 25, 2008 Author: Nastassia | Filed under: Spring, Summer, Trends

This trend is definately a throwback to preppy couture. I’m not saying you need to wear a three-piece suit with a monacle, but there are ways to incorporate nice tailored pieces into your everyday look.

Tailored being the key word here: It needs to fit your body like it was made for you specifically.

This Rebecca Taylor Dress from shopbop.com is a great example. The stiching at the skit accentuates a smaller waist (even if you don’t have one). I also love the way it IS a dress, but it looks like two separate pieces.

rebeccadress

I have always loved the look of a blazer on men and women. This velvet blazer from Alice and Olivia is absolutely gorgeous. I love the tailoring of it, and you can wear it with a pair of skinny jeans and heels, or flats…over a dress…etc. I know it is getter hotter, so it might be harder to pull off. But it could make a great nightime look or for a meeting in an air-conditioned office lol.

Ths Chulo Pony vest…is absolutely adorable. You can wear it to the office or even be daring and wear it for a night out.

chulopony

Then we have a BCBG little coverlet. I think that you can dress this up and down and make it as conservative or sexy as you want.

Last but not least we can’t forget about shoes! I would most likely go for the more demure Michael Kors, but if you are feeling ultra fierce and uber trendy, go for the Lineas.

Since it’s friday, I figure we should go over what to wear this evening. One of the biggest trends for SS/08 is bringing back 70’s GLAM. I’m talking glitter, sparkles, short shorts, bell bottoms, jumpsuits, the whole shabang. Here are some of my picks:
